In order to move forward in life, we have to “let go of the past.” But have you ever wondered exactly how to do that? First, understand that we take hold of things in our minds with our thoughts. Our thoughts become words and actions that determine the direction of our lives. It’s that simple. If you want to choose a new direction for your life, you have to choose new thoughts. If you want to let go of the past, you have to quit thinking about it, quit talking about it, and quit reliving every negative experience.

Oftentimes, when we see someone who has hurt us, that pain and offense is stirred up, and we start thinking about what happened again. But in that moment, you have a choice to make. One of the best things you can do, instead of rehearsing the hurt, is to pray for that person and speak blessing over them.

Remember, forgiveness is for you. Letting go of bitterness is for you. Don’t let the past hold you back from what God has in store for your future any longer. Get past the past by choosing right thoughts because God has victory and blessing in store for your future!

The Gift The Keeps On Giving

We all love presents, but wouldn’t you love one that lasts forever? The greatest gift that anyone has ever given has already been given to us. What is this gift? God has given us the gift of love, the gift of salvation, and the gift of relationship. All through the power of His Son. Christmas is the time to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. It is His birthday, if anyone is deserving of gifts and praise it is Him. Yet for most of the world, this holiday will go by without remembering or knowing what Christmas is really all about. We tend to make Christmas stressful or complicated when it is not supposed to be. The core of Christmas is to rejoice in the birth of our Savior. Think about the time when you got a present you wanted for Christmas. The joy, the excitement on your face, and running around the house to show everyone. This is how we should treat God and His blessings. God gives us direction when we are lost, heals us when we are sick, speaks to us when we are lonely, and provides when we desperately need Him. It is amazing how much God cares for us despite our shortcomings. This is definitely something to get excited about. The meaning of Christmas and the gifts of God are worth telling people about. Best part about it all is that it does not stop there. God has given us the gift of salvation. The opportunity to spend an eternity with our loving God and finally see Him face to face. God doesn’t want us to be consumed by sin and be separated from us. Because of Jesus we now have hope. God didn’t have to do die for us and we did nothing to deserve it, but it was because of His love and grace. What’s so amazing about God is that He came down to meet us and have a relationship with us here and now. He taught us about love, friendship, family, honor, commitment, faith, generosity, and patience through words and action. Things this world could use much more of this holiday season. Think about all the gifts you have received in life. None will even come close to the everlasting and powerful gift of Jesus Christ. John 3:16-17 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” Christmas lights will dim and burn out, but God is the one light that will shine forever. Thank You Jesus!
